I’ve met with a lot of training directors and staff trainers over the years. I’m always surprised that so many are unaware of the different associations for training professionals. They are often the best places for development of a training staff. I think this happens because a lot of people go from line positions into training and never get exposed to a lot in the training field. Here are some links to some of the most popular associations:
- ASTD (American Society of Training and Development)
- ISPI (International Society of Performance Improvement)
- SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management)
- STC (Society for Technical Communications)
- SALT (Society for Applied Learning Technology)
Most of these associations have local chapters which provide great networking opportunities as well as a great place to find new employees.
